EAST BRIXTON

(1866 - 1976)

The site of East Brixton station is currently passed by trains on London Bridge to Victoria service. This service does not stop at Brixton station, which would make for useful interchange with the Victoria Line. Indeed it has occasionally been suggested that East Brixton is reopened to provide such an interchange. While not far from Brixton itself, it is too far to provide convenient interchange, so its reopening seems unlikely. Curiously, the opening of the Victoria Line at Brixton was named as one of the major causes of the decline of passenger numbers at East Brixton.

The site of the station at track level. The barrier has replaced the platform - note that the left hand pair of tracks did not form part of the station and had no platforms.
