Most commuters using Victoria station are probably unaware that it was opened as a 'dual' station for use by two separate operating companies (with a clear physical division that is still apparent today). Grosvenor Road station, on the north bank of the Thames and only a short distance from Victoria, also had 'dual nationality' with platforms and station buildings belonging exclusively to each company. The LBSCR side closed in 1907, while the LCDR side lingered on until 1911. |
